Shell, formally known as Royal Dutch Shell, is one of the largest oil and gas multinationals in the world. We ran two influencer campaigns to promote Shell’s app, Shell Box, over the course of six months. Our challenge was to increase the number of downloads and new user acquisitions (first-time installs) of the app, using acquisition coupons as a strategy to attract the target audience. The campaigns were run on Instagram and TikTok, with a total of 10 influencers. We chose influencers from the humor niche to present Shell Box in a light-hearted and fun way, incorporating the use of the app into everyday situations. The videos ranked among the top 5 to 6% in click-through rates in the traditional finance sector.
